Direct & Mutual Aid programs help LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and families in Tacoma and Pierce County access essential support during times of financial hardship or instability. Rainbow Center works with community partners and local networks to help connect people with practical assistance and affirming care.

Immediate community support for LGBTQIA2S+ people in need

Many LGBTQIA2S+ people experience barriers to housing, healthcare, employment, transportation, and other basic needs. Direct & Mutual Aid programs are designed to provide community-centered support that helps reduce immediate stress while connecting people with longer-term resources.

Support may include:

  • Emergency assistance referrals
  • Food and basic needs support
  • Community resource connections
  • Transportation and accessibility assistance
  • Mutual aid coordination
  • Referrals to local support organizations
