Finding the right resource can be difficult, especially when someone is already dealing with stress, uncertainty, or a crisis. Resource navigation helps make that process more manageable. Rainbow Center works with community members to understand what they are facing, identify available options, and connect them with services that are affirming and relevant to their needs.

People may seek help with housing, food access, health care, mental health support, legal resources, identity documents, crisis services, support groups, or other basic needs. Often, these concerns are connected. A housing issue may affect someone’s health. A lack of affirming care may increase isolation. A family conflict may create financial or emotional instability. Resource navigation creates space to look at the full picture.

Rainbow Center staff help people sort through these overlapping needs without judgment. That may mean explaining options, sharing referrals, helping someone prepare for a next step, or connecting them with partner organizations. When possible, staff also help identify resources that are LGBTQIA2S+ affirming and culturally responsive, which can reduce the risk of harm or discrimination.

This work is especially important because many systems are difficult to navigate even under the best circumstances. Forms, eligibility rules, waitlists, and agency requirements can create barriers. Having someone help clarify the process can make support feel more reachable.
